Technical Operations Manager - Middleware - Permanent - Edinburgh

Head Resourcing is currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Operations Manager with a demonstrable background in the middleware technologies in an enterprise level organisation. Our client is going through a significant period of change, focussing on delivery for their customers and bring a wealth of exciting new technology to life in 2020 and beyond - their plan to deliver new products and services will be underpinned by an increase in activity across their strategic transformation programmes. You will join a growing team that is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the Technical Services delivered in the Middleware layers in the Enterprise banking technology stack including microservices, enterprise service bus, authentication, and web presentation layers. Responsibilities include working across multiple stakeholder groups such as suppliers, application development, support teams, and Service Management, ensuring alignment to SLAs and the compliance of the technology by working with central functions such as risk audit and enterprise assurance. - Delivery of the Technical Services in scope to agreed levels across availability, performance, capacity, security and cost
- Maintaining OLAs for Business Services and managing contracts with 3rd parties
- Work directly with suppliers and managed service providers to ensure the contractual levels of service are being met and exceeded
- CSI plan - driving operational excellence through applying the principles and a structured approach to continuous service improvement
- Resilience Plan, Currency and Capacity plan and associated budgets - developing business cases where appropriate and initiating project activity.
- Demand management - ensuring that overall demand for the platforms can be managed at that forecasting is in place to ensure delivery is optimised
- Owning the end-to-end technology stack for the technical service and ensure this is modelled accurately in the CMDB
- Deputise for the Senior Technical Operations Managers and other Technical Operations managers as required

- Understanding of a microservice architecture in an enterprise and customer facing environment
- Strong operational experience across all processes in a highly demanding environment supporting live customer systems
- Deep understanding of middleware components deployed in an enterprise, shared service, manner
- Technical background and understanding of Middleware, enterprise message bus, java application layers, application security, authentication technologies
- Good understanding of presentation layer technology such as Apache, IIS, WebLogic
- Good understanding of networking, load balancing and security
- ITIL and Cobit framework experience. Proven record of working with controls, KPI, SLAs and contracts

- Working with APM tooling (Dynatrace preferable)
- Working with logging tools such as Elastic Search or Splunk
- Experience with Tibco middleware
