Test Engineer (Hybrid 2 days per fortnight on site - Glasgow)

Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with a tech driven organisation who are looking for a Test Engineer to join their team in Glasgow.

As a Test Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in delivering cutting-edge digital products that prioritise customer experiences and drive business growth. You'll be working on impactful, high-profile projects with a team of skilled and passionate individuals who value doing things the right way. About the role:

You'll be joining cross-functional product teams that leverage the latest technologies, tools, and best practices. As an integral part of your team, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, often complex and non-routine, using established methods and procedures. Working independently within set deadlines, you will take ownership of your development and proactively advocate for the benefits of testing within your product squad.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functional Testing: Develop comprehensive functional test cases and scripts, considering edge cases and boundary values. Engage in requirement and design reviews to refine test strategies. Perform structured exploratory testing to verify application functionality, prepare test data, configure test environments, and automate repeatable tests. Execute test cases, report defects with detailed logs, and analyze results to ensure system quality.
  • Non-Functional Testing: Assess systems for performance, security, scalability, and other non-functional attributes to meet set standards.
  • Process Validation: Review and evaluate documented and undocumented workflows to ensure alignment with business needs through thorough testing.
  • User Acceptance Testing: Design test cases and scenarios based on pre-defined acceptance criteria, following agreed standards and methodologies. Analyze and report test results, identify issues, and assess risks.
  • Technical Consultation: Offer expert guidance on testing-related planning and operational strategies. Stay updated with the latest testing methodologies and tools, collaborating with other specialists to provide sound advice.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and influencing abilities.
  • Excellent manual testing capabilities for web, mobile, and mobile apps, including ensuring consistency across multiple devices and platforms.
  • Proven skills in UI and API test automation using tools like Playwright and Cypress.
  • Experience in test planning, including approach, design, and estimation.
  • Strong analytical abilities to review requirements, validate technical specifications, and create comprehensive test plans.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and practices.

Additional Skills

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, particularly around continuous integration for test automation.
  • Experience in refining, enhancing, and documenting QA processes and test reporting.
  • An interest in creating or contributing to technical content, such as internal documentation or technical articles.

Salary up to £45k depending on experience.
