Technical Project Manager

Head Resourcing are working closely with one of our large financial services clients to assist them in hiring a talented Technical Project Manager. Our client is in the process of moving a lot of their technical capability in-house, meaning there are numerous greenfield projects in the pipeline. To deliver these successfully our client requires people who are adaptable to deliver both the current and future technical needs.
This is an important role within our client's organisation to ensure coordinated contributions from multiple software, platform, product, and business teams are delivered. In a nutshell, the successful Candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of high complexity IT change across the business. The Technical Project Manager will lead, direct and control technical delivery of projects up to the value of c.£2m and be able to work collaboratively with Senior Technical Delivery Managers, IT colleagues, project stakeholders and third parties.
The successful candidate will be able to understand the technical landscape and be able to understand and describe the different technical choices and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They will be able to define project plans and resource requirements as well as manage the cost and risk profile of projects. The ability to manage both internal and external technical resource is a key part of the position.
Required skills:
*Strong project management background with experience working on software delivery projects
*Ability to hold your own in technical discussions
*Experienced managing technical teams from a delivery perspective
*Experienced at managing third party suppliers
*Strong stakeholder management skills
*The ability to organise and motivate a team with clear communication skills
*Hands on experience managing projects via scrum / squad feature team delivery
*Professionally qualified in project management with an industry recognised qualification
*Experienced in project management tool sets for planning and tracking progress
This role will be based out of our clients Edinburgh office but will involve significant home working with one day per week expected in the office.
