Key responsibilities can include,
*Receives and logs requests for support from Application Operations service desk, development teams, other services delivery staff and/or users; investigate problems and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take. Prioritises requests in accordance with agreed criteria and with reference to Line Manager
*Monitor progress of requests for support and ensure users and other interested parties are kept informed.
*Monitor database services for which responsible by regular scrutiny of reports from the applications software or the IT team. Note problems and identify performance trends. Where approved, take corrective action to improve performance and to avoid problems arising;
*Liaise with software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
*Assist in the design and developing the future state of systems and services
*Plan for integration and efficiency of services
*Evaluate business requests, identifying best practices and lessons learned
*Clearly communicate and collaborate designs and initiatives with all stakeholders
*Identify and develop enhancements and functionality changes on internal services using the provided tools and templates or developing and testing appropriate code.
In order to be successful in the role candidates, need to have
*Extensive experience of working as a production DBA in a SQL Server environment, providing support for mission critical applications
*Good knowledge & experience of performance monitoring & database optimisation
*Good knowledge of database design principles.
*Highly skilled in working with Azure
*T-SQL skills
*Good knowledge & experience of back-up & recovery processes.
