Role: Senior Database Administrator
Location: Edinburgh (hybrid working 1-2 days in the office)
Salary: £80-90k DOE + great benefits package

Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to work with a leading investment management firm in Edinburgh. Your role would involve providing database support and guidance to the business, as well as managing and developing the database systems. You will work closely with the development team and focus on high availability and performance tuning within a fast paced FS environment. This role would suit someone with strong transactional performance tuning and audit experience.

Responsibilities:
*Ensure that the database infrastructure remains consistently available to all users (including colleagues, clients, business partners and suppliers)
*Management of service or change requests
*Management and delivery of scheduled daily, weekly and monthly tasks
*Management of Database Product life cycle, including upgrades and refreshes
*Identification, management and resolution of incidents
*Identification, management and root cause elimination of problems
*Identification, management and implementation of application or process improvements
*Carry out daily database checks to maintain database availability.
*Manage and support member(s) of the team.
*Detection and troubleshooting of database performance issues.
*Define and uphold SQL database standards.
*Assist with ad hoc data reports and creation of SSRS reports.
*Liaise and build relationships with third party suppliers and clients.


Skills:
*Demonstrable experience in SQL Server database administration.
*Ability to logically and methodically problem solve IT incidents and outages.
*Extensive knowledge of transact-SQL (DDL, DML)
*Knowledge of Clustering and High Availability Solutions Knowledge of clustering, replication, SAN storage, virtualisation and consolidation.
*Knowledge of backup strategies and data recovery.
*Knowledge of industry recognised IT and support practices
*Knowledge of ITIL processes. Change and Problem management Team leading experience
*A basic understanding of investment markets is an advantage
*Practical experience of monitoring and tuning to provide high availability and service.
*Experience with implementing IT security policies and procedures.
*Experience managing projects and understanding of the project lifecycle
*Proven track record of delivering to commitments.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Mentoring and training to the infrastructure, application support and development teams.
*Experience of release management.


Knowledge:
*SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
*Experience with the following tools - SSMS, Profiler, SQLCMD, Extended Events.
*Extensive knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server DMVs.
*Performance tuning, index design and query optimization.
*Database encryption.
*PowerShell.
*Visual Studio.
*TFS or similar source control system.
*Knowledge of clustering, SAN storage and virtualisation.
*Knowledge of backup models and data recovery.
*Knowledge of industry-recognised IT and support practices.
