Head Resourcing is looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join a Glasgow based Financial Services Client. This is a hybrid role with working from the office in Glasgow twice per week, please ensure when applying you can commute to Glasgow twice per week. In addition to this, a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle is critical for this role, any applicants without this understanding will not be considered for the role.

The SCRUM Master will work closely with the IT Development Lead under the direction of the Head of IT Development to ensure the successful delivery of development sprints. The SCRUM Master will oversee Agile teams across Project and Business as Usual workstreams, in addition to serving as an agile coach for the wider business in order to foster strong Agile disciplines that will improve the planning and delivery of all work through the development team.

The SCRUM Master will be key to ensuring blockers are removed from development sprints, sprints are planned effectively and efficiently together with the required level of business engagement, whilst ensuring appropriate Agile ceremonies take place to ensure the clear and consistent delivery of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the wider business and stakeholders to prioritise and refine the development backlog identifying common trends and efficient ways of delivering good outcomes.
  • Work with management to understand resource needs and wider business priorities to facilitate the effective planning of each sprint.
  • Facilitate SCRUM ceremonies as required to ensure prioritisation, planning and delivery of each Sprint within the velocity of the Agile team.
  • Work with business owners to ensure backlog items are sprint ready and definition of done agreed.
  • Identify and remove blockers to sprint progress, working across the business with relevant stakeholders to ensure the common goal of completing the sprint.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, celebration of success and mentoring in Agile practices within the development team and across the wider business.
  • Develop the team to become self organising and work to achieve their development goals.
  • Protect the team from distractions whilst supporting flexibility to support production incidents requiring specific skillsets.
  • Report and prepare graphical and precise MI to show progress and completion of sprints in the form of burndown charts and sprint on sprint performance, highlighting success and retrospective improvements.
  • Plan and manage sprints using Atlassian JIRA ensuring dashboards correctly reflect current position.

Skills/Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Agile development practices.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in enterprise agile transformation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamworking skills.
  • Proven record of delivering successful development sprints.
  • Strong experience using Atlassian JIRA management tool.
  • Good experience using Power BI to build and maintain dashboards.
