Java Developer
Contract
Circa £440 per day via an Umbrella Company
Glasgow - Hybrid (with time onsite required each week)
A long-standing Client of ours, a well-known name in the Insurance Market is currently seeking an experienced Java Developer Contractor to join their team.
The main duties & responsibilities will include:
- Developing Java applications and services using the client-set standards
- Providing technical guidance for small Java Development Team
- Delivering high quality code and test automation as per company standards
- Contributing to Agile Ceremonies and PI Planning
- Story point estimates, working on POCs, presenting demos to stakeholders
- Accountable for implementation of features as per architectural design
- Making low-level technical decisions, producing and reviewing detailed technical designs
- Utilising and promoting design methodologies, object-oriented design and design patterns
- Providing ongoing consultation and troubleshooting advice for supported systems
- Coaching junior members of the team
- Interfacing in a professional manner with internal and external users, at all levels
- Using own initiative to continually identify areas of service improvement
And to be successful, our Client is looking for candidates with the following skills/experience:
- Extensive & proven Java Development skills & experience
- Java 8+
- Spring Core Framework, Spring Data/JPA, Spring MVC
- Hibernate, MS SQL
- Unit Testing, Test Automation
- Maven
- Design and develop REST Web APIs/services
- OWASP/Web App Security
- Swagger, Postman, SoapUI
- JSP, basic JavaScript, jQuery, HTML 5, CSS 3
- T-SQL, MS SQL Stored Procedures
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps
- Experience with GIT
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Agile development practices
- Previous experience in the Financial Services Industry would be highly advantageous
