IT Developer (Glasgow 2 days per week)

Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with one of Scotland's leading pensions and mutuals companies, currently seeking an experienced IT Developer to join their team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the organization's technology team, contributing to the development and maintenance of core policy administration systems, Sonata and Talisman.

As an integral member of the IT Development Team, you will undertake a diverse range of coding tasks aimed at enhancing the efficiency and user-friendliness of internal and external applications and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Oracle tools, and developing/maintaining stored procedures.
  • Creating and maintaining SSIS packages for data extraction and transformation.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging SSIS/SQL issues.
  • Developing and maintaining XSL stylesheets to support customer correspondence.
  • Assisting with API debugging.
  • Following the development lifecycle and release process for production implementations and fixes.
  • Participating in requirements gathering, analysis, effort estimation, and solution design for new SQL projects.
  • Testing, deploying, and maintaining SQL projects and fixes in accordance with best practices.
  • Providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 application support to the business, collaborating closely with the Production Support Team.
  • Managing multiple tasks and meeting development deadlines.
  • Communicating technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required:

  • Advanced T-SQL/PL-SQL Development experience.
  • Proficiency in SSIS.
  • Familiarity with XSL.
  • Understanding of Java and APIs (desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
  • Good knowledge of Life/Pensions products (desirable).
  • Awareness/experience of workflow solutions within Application Software, specifically Sonata.
  • Experience in wealth management, life administration, savings, and investments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Salary:
  • Up to £45k depending on experience
  • 10% pension
