Infrastructure Project Manager - Hybrid, Glasgow

Up to £60,000 + benefits

Head Resourcing is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager to join a facilities management company in Glasgow. Revenues with this client have grown significantly to now over £2 billion as they work to provide services to some of the world's biggest clients. This is a hybrid role with working from the office near Glasgow, however the client is very flexible with how often you must be based onsite.

In this role you will shape and successfully deliver IT infrastructure projects and manage the link between key stakeholders and IT delivery teams. You will have exposure to several IT infrastructure projects that differ in size and timescale so the ability to manage initiatives simultaneously and complete these to stakeholder and budget expectations is essential. Contribution to best practise project management standards and quality assurance processes across IT deliveries. Support fellow departments or group business units with project management delivery advice as necessary.

Responsibilities

IT Delivery Management

  • Shape, manage and deliver IT infrastructure projects utilising relevant delivery methodologies and techniques
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure the project meets business needs building trust and confidence in IT as a supplier
  • Plan and secure IT resources with relevant internal capability leads, and/or, external suppliers
  • Manage multi-skilled project teams including System, Network and Database Admins, Service desk, application support and 3rd party technical partners
  • Detailed IT project planning and control including:
  • Discovery, business case creation and project initiation
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed scope driven IT project plan
  • Identifying and managing the delivery critical path
  • Budget management (resources, license subscriptions, training, hardware)
  • Recording and managing IT project issues and escalating where necessary
  • Resolving cross-functional issues at the IT project level
  • Managing IT project scope and change control, escalating issues where necessary
  • Managing key risks and dependencies ensuring timely and effective mitigation actions
  • Monitoring and reporting IT project progress and performance
  • Liaising with, and providing progress updates to, project boards/business change project managers/senior IT management
  • Liaising with IT operations to plan adequate operational readiness for project driven IT service changes
  • Promote and develop project management best practice and the adoption of effective delivery methodologies

IT Project Management Capability Management

  • Timely and effective provision of IT project management services to projects
  • Capability development through the evolution and enhancement of IT project management methodologies, toolsets and colleague skillsets, aligning to industry best practice
  • Collaborate effectively with other IT teams as well as the wider business stakeholders to ensure adequate and appropriate IT project management services

Performance Management

  • Monitor and ensure that IT delivery projects meet the agreed project performance criteria
  • Generate statistics and prepare reports on project delivery performance as required

Skills/Experience

  • PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent PM certification
  • Experience of working in a Wintel infrastructure environment
  • Microsoft Azure cloud transformation & services
  • Experience of green field deployments and in-place upgrade projects
  • Report preparation to business stakeholders
  • Demonstrable delivery record of IT infrastructure projects
  • Experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • End to end project lifecycle experience on a number of infrastructure projects
  • Practical experience of formal Change & Release Management Processes
  • Managing 3rd parties/ Suppliers
  • Workshop facilitation
