Cloud Engineer - Hybrid, Leeds
Up to £75,000 + benefits
Head Resourcing is looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join a multinational asset management company in Leeds. This is a hybrid role with two days per week working from the office based in Leeds and three days working remote.
Cloud Engineers are responsible for the design, development, implementation, ongoing support and maintenance of our clients Infrastructure and Cloud based platforms. They are also responsible for processes including the Microsoft tenant, client hardware and software, Cloud platforms including AWS and Azure, Networking, Scanning, Printing and Automation.
The role focuses on the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the core Infrastructure and Cloud based platforms and associated systems:
Design and Development of Solutions:
* Design of new solutions in conjunction with the Technology Architects and responsible for taking through appropriate governance and approval channels
* In line with requirements and technical policy design, develop infrastructure and cloud based solutions
* Where appropriate select new components/systems in line with requirements
* Ensure solutions minimise the need for manual intervention and are automated wherever possible
Implementation:
* In line with business requirements and policy design, develop, test, implement and maintain core company Infrastructure, both Physical and Cloud based
* Work with the requisite change, application and business teams to implement and maintain reliable platform services
* Collaborate with Change and Platform professionals to develop and implement solutions
Support:
* In conjunction with first and Second line support teams provide an escalation to 3rd line technical support
* Design and implement processes to ensure all managed systems are supportable, available, recoverable, secure (patched) and documented
* Stay up-to-date with relevant frameworks, industry guidelines and best practices
* Where applicable provide support documentation to be used by first and 2nd line teams
Supplier Management:
* Manage the technical relationship with Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure suppliers (Microsoft, AWS, Vodafone, Broadcom etc.)
* Support Service Management and Supplier Management in the ongoing monitoring and renewal of licensing and contracts
Qualifications & Skills:
The successful candidate will possess a strong background and experience of designing, building and troubleshooting infrastructure or cloud based solutions whilst applying an in-depth understanding of best practice. A mix of the following based on discipline focus will be required:
* Experience of developing and implementing physical infrastructure including clients, O/S, printing, networking, Web Filtering, Audio Visual systems, software distribution methods
* Practical experience of designing, implementing, configuring and supporting AWS Cloud Platform components and tooling including Lambda and Glue
* Practical experience of designing, implementing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform components and tooling
* Practical experience of designing, implementing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Modern Workplace tooling and Tenants including systems such as Microsoft Managed Desktop (MMD), Microsoft Application Management (MAM), E5 Licensing, Defender etc.
* Automation Programming skills preferably around PowerAutomate to minimise manual processes to allow colleagues to focus on 'value add' activities and minimise human error
* Ability to self manage development, tasks and time within both an Agile and traditional delivery approach
* Experience of Infrastructure and Cloud based Platform and Security best practices
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with complex data and articulate challenges to the level understandable by a lay-person.
