Automated Tester / Test Automation Engineer - Permanent - Edinburgh

Head Resourcing is currently recruiting an incredibly exciting new role with one of the leading investment organisations in the UK. Our client is recruiting for experienced Test Automation Engineers that will design automated tests to check the functionality of web and mobile applications, write scripts, install testing protocols and to provide effective test automation solutions. Ideally you will have previous experience of both API and UI testing using a wide range of automation technologies and will be used to continuous monitoring of every phase of the software development life cycle and process to ensure design quality (and make sure that the software adheres to the standards set by the business and development teams).

Responsibilities:
- Designing, maintaining, and executing automated testing of both UI and API systems with test data on multiple platforms, ensuring consistency and sufficient test coverage
- Configuring performance, load and stress testing using automated tools, ensuring the production of high-quality deliverables that are scalable and perform to expectations
- Reviewing and analysing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents, providing timely and collaborative feedback to the project team.
- Involvement in estimating, prioritising, planning and coordinating testing activities
- Designing, developing and executing automation scripts using open source tools
- Identifying, recording, documenting thoroughly and tracking bugs
- Perform thorough regression testing when bugs as part of defects closure
- Developing and applying testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
- The role involves Liaising with internal teams (e.g. Business Analyst, Developers and Product Managers) to identify system requirements
- Developing detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Working with an agile delivery team to contribute to the design and development of software releases using the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) methodology
- Investigating and raising software defects and validating fixes to provide timely resolutions

Essential:
- Good understanding of automated testing methods, principles and their application
- Hands-on experience in developing high-quality automation solutions with automation tools, such as Selenium (Page Object Model Framework), C# or Java API test framework (C#, Java or Postman)
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles
- Being able to articulate ideas to a target audience
- Experience of collaborating with other team members within an Agile Delivery team
- Knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (e.g. TFS, Azure DevOps or Jira)
- Be willing to help your teammates, share your knowledge and learn from others where appropriate.
- Detailed knowledge of application functions, bug fixing, and testing protocols.
