The Company: An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for a major player of one of Scotland's most famous exports.
You will be providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support to the business on a range of Microsoft and 3rd Party industry specific platforms, ongoing project work, and supporting the core business with infrastructure management, support and troubleshooting issues. The latter requires extensive knowledge of MS Windows network technologies, IP networking, infrastructure best practices and Active Directory management. Exposure to a CRM and an ERP system would be an advantage. Knowledge of wireless communication technologies is a requirement, a key area of this role will focus on implementing wireless communication at sea sites and this will be an integral part of the job.
User Support: Provide direct desktop & business applications support to users across the company, ensuring operational issues are minimised and being proactive to foresee and prevent possible issues. Main focus for this individual will also be on providing support to marine sites.
IT Coverage: Collaborate as part of the team to share information, standardise across sites where possible and shadow each other to provide coverage for key IT areas when others are absent.
Problem Resolution: Take a systematic approach to problem resolution while communicating to affected parties, relieving symptoms while maintaining business continuity and allowing time to identify and resolve the underlying problem in the most effective manner, documenting it for the benefit of others and taking the necessary steps to prevent re-occurrence.
Technology Awareness: Keep abreast of developments and trends in technology and use this information, in conjunction with business understanding, to help departments get best value from IT investment, inform the IT strategy and resulting projects.
Business Awareness: Be familiar with the way the business works across the different functional "silos" and product/process lifecycles, and use this insight to identify opportunities for improvement through better use of IT and processes.
Business Systems/Applications: Own the business IT systems and configuration data, and perform system administration duties, ensure all systems are sufficiently hosted, tested, updated and are integrated to best effect as part of a coherent enterprise architecture.
Security & Business Continuity: Maintain and improve the security, stability and resilience of IT systems operations, minimising downtime, ensuring data is protected and measures in place to provide business continuity and disaster recovery.
Infrastructure Support: Maintain and improve the IT infrastructure for the business, ensuring servers, networks, operating systems and middleware are effectively configured, connected and utilised across all sites.
Business Service Provision: Ensure all IT assets are inventoried, monitored and managed; ensure all IT services are fit for purpose while providing best value for money.
Process & Planning: Plan your assignments and activities on IT projects; contribute to the process of steadily formalising, documenting and measuring IT procedures to improve IT support to the business.
You will have knowledge and experience of:
Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating systems up to Windows 10
Microsoft Office 365
Microsoft Windows Server environment
Working with virtualisation technologies preferably Hyper-V experience
Experience of administering and managing a Microsoft AD Domain
Experience with DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLans
Exposure to SQL Management
Experience with wireless communication preferably Ubiquity and UNMS
Experience with documentation
Exposure to camera systems preferably Milestone
Exposure to monitoring and alerting systems
Exposure to IOT, SCADA, industrial equipment.
Exposure to Firewalls and networking equipment
Experience deploying and supporting MS Windows Servers and Hyper-V
Experience of MS SQL Server Database Administration
Experience of MS Dynamics Navision 2013R2
Cyber security experience

Experience and qualifications:
Either:5 years' experience in a similar role
Or:2 years' experience and industry certifications such as but not limited to:
HND or Degree in a computing related subject
Microsoft MCP or MCSA
