Full- Stack Developer (Falkirk- £40,000)

Company description

Working at our Falkirk based client means being part of a supporting and creative environment. Whether you are part of the Team of Developers working on this ground-breaking platform, the Business Team helping organisations manage and govern their flows of data, or the Learn Team that introduces people to the wonders of dataflow - this work is conducted with focus on ethics and innovation through every step of the way.
We are excited to welcome new colleagues to join this truly exceptional team!
Job description
An opportunity has opened for a Full-Stack Developer to join the team. If you are a multi-stack software engineer - or can demonstrate the drive and ability to spread your wings and become one - we would love to hear from you.
The role will require you to work together with your colleagues in the development of our cutting-edge platform where quality, security and integrity in software engineering is paramount. Your input and involvement regarding all aspects of the development process will be welcomed from the beginning and you will be expected to work independently on tasks whilst corresponding continuously and openly with your team. You'll be working with a whole host of technologies and as a valued member of the team your voice matters. We expect you to contribute to the architectural design, documentation, as well as the implementation.
Some of the work you do will be highly confidential and we will expect you to be discreet about the work you are undertaking.
A Bit About You
Ideally you have previously worked in a Full-Stack Developer role, alternatively in a Front- or Back-End role with insight and close collaboration with the wider development team. You should have a solid understanding of the common languages and frameworks used in the whole software development process, even if you are more experienced and comfortable in some. You understand the value of planning and documenting throughout the development process and you are humble and open to suggestions and approaches different than your own.
Your friends would probably describe you as:
  • Enthusiastic
  • Adaptable
  • Quality-oriented
  • Collaborative

You are a keen learner with insight to networks, databases, cloud services, security, user interfaces, and risk analytics. If you don't know about all of these, we expect you to have an interest in becoming proficient fast. You'll be expected to be independent but a team player too, collaborating with others to shape the implementation of new world-class platform technologies with no compromise on the design and aesthetics.
To succeed you'll need to show honesty, ethics, drive, commitment, and a willingness to work hard. We want you to become part of the team and that means working in an innovative, fast-paced, and supportive environment while having a lot of fun along the way too!
You Should Apply If You Love:
  • Collaborating with colleagues to find solutions to complex problems
  • Working independently on tasks whilst continuously aligning your progress with the team
  • Learning new skills and broadening your current stack
  • Working proactively
  • Taking ownership of varied aspects of projects

Your Skills and Qualifications
You should be comfortable in demonstrating solid knowledge and experience in at least one of the following languages:
  • Go
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (incl. ES6)

In addition, you should meet several of the below requirements:
  • BSc in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field
  • A proven track record of commercial software development
  • A sound understanding of Linux/MacOS, Git, version control and unit testing
  • Experience working with containers and VMs (Docker/Azure/AWS/Kubernetes etc)
  • Experience developing and maintaining REST services
  • Awareness of cloud computing security practices and principles (OAuth and JWT)
  • Experience of Postgres, Redis, NoSQL, GraphDB and similar
  • Strong SPA development skills in Angular, React or Vue.js
  • Experience with Bootstrap 3/4 and CSS pre-processors such as Stylus or SASS

It would also be great (but not essential) if you have:
  • Experience in cloud solutions including PaaS and SaaS
  • Experience working with API-integrations
  • Knowledge of AGILE software development
  • Experience in Typescript
  • Experience in developing and maintaining gRPC
  • Good working knowledge of DevOps
