Business Intelligence Engineer (Tableau) - Edinburgh - Permanent

Head Resourcing is recruiting for a Business Intelligence Engineer that is looking for a new and exciting challenge. Our client is a highly reputed boutique financial services organisation based in Edinburgh and the are keen to hire an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer with experience in Tableau. Your role help support the acceleration of automation and presentation of information for the Investment Department, ensuring the validity of data behind reports and dashboards are created in line with users expectations. You will also support end users in creating and maintaining their own reports. Responsibilities:
- Development of Business Information and other reports to provide concise and meaningful insight to the Investment Department.
- Automate existing manual spreadsheets
- Identify better data sources and more interesting data presentation techniques
- Assist in producing reports which will permit proof-of-concept solutions to problems / required features that are currently sitting in application development backlogs
- Remain up to date with trends and developments in the wider analytics / data science community, to ensure knowledge, skills and abilities remain current
- Maintain awareness and understanding of internal policies pertaining to data classification and management
- Proactive in ensuring the reporting tools used remain appropriate to the business needs
- Remain close to market developments in reporting tools and evaluate new innovation
- Lead or assist in the creation of complex data sources and reports
- Identify suitable opportunities for end user self-service, and provide support for users creating their own reports.

Essential:
- Experience with business information reporting tools, familiarity with BI tools and techniques
- Tableau experience
- Solid knowledge of data engineering, a high-level understanding of database structures and architectures
- Practical ability to extract and format data, both through own skills and ability to work constructively with others who have the technical knowledge
- Experience of working closely with a wide range of business teams and people in order to understand and solve their problems using BI tools
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to translate user requirements into practical outputs
- Good knowledge of data management and reporting best practice

- Experience of investment industry
