| Job Description | Our client is a highly regarded Financial Services Investment Management Company and is experiencing rapid growth and now need to strengthen their IT security function. They are looking to hire an IT Security Analyst who will work under (and be mentored by) the IT Security Specialist. The successful role holder will assist with all of the IT security programmes underway, and will be expected to take on the day-to-day running of several of them. They will be expected to become a respected expert in IT security principles and practice, and as such would need to keep constantly up to date with new developments in the realm of IT security - through a combination of training and self education.
Outlined below are the key duties the role holder will perform
*Configuring and reviewing Security Information and Event Management systems. *Configuring and reviewing Intrusion Detection/Prevention systems. *Coordinating the Patch Management programme. *Gathering security metrics and producing reports. *Arranging external security testing, and maintaining progress reports on closing off any identified issues. *Running internal security compliance scanning and Vulnerability Assessment. *Reviewing firewall, proxy, and other changes which impact the security risk profile. *Assisting/consulting with other ICT teams to ensure the implementation of secure systems. *Maintaining awareness of new risks, tools, vulnerabilities, patches, and best practice of relevance to the corporate IT estate. *Investigating potential security incidents.
The below skills have been identified as ESSENTIAL skills for the role
*A strong technical generalist IT knowledge in order to interact with the various IT infrastructure teams - including server and networking knowledge. *Strong knowledge of IT security principles. *Able to work well both in a team and independently. *Excellent communication skills - both spoken and written. *Methodical and detailed approach.
The below skills have been identified as DESIRABLE skills for the role
*Hands-on experience with any of the following: *Security Information and Event Management *Intrusion Detection and Prevention *Vulnerability Assessment *Patch Management *Firewalls and VPN *Citrix *Web Proxies *Authentication *Knowledge of scripting and regular expressions.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who has worked as either an IT generalist with a strong inclination towards/interest in security, or who has worked within a Security Operations Centre environment and would like more freedom and personal ownership.
