As the jobs market for GPs in the UK tightens, with an oversupply of newly qualified GPs and a shortage of attractive jobs, more and more GPs are being attracted to live and work down under.  There is a huge shortage of GPs in Australia and New Zealand and high demand for UK trained GPs, whose training and experience is internationally recognised.  Demand is so high that Head Medical now has its own dedicated GP team, with two Consultants focusing full time on GP recruitment to Australia and New Zealand.  In fact changes in registration pathways in Australia mean it is now easier than ever for UK qualified GPs to make the move. With good career opportunities, competitive salaries, low costs of living and famously high quality of life, not to mention a significantly better climate, it is easy to see why many doctors are attracted to these countries either permanently or for a fixed term working holiday prior to returning to work in the UK.
